Dress for yoga and be prepared for a cave temperature of 55 degrees. Bring a yoga mat and a large beach towel or blanket to put under the yoga mat. You will want the towel or blanket to be larger than your mat so that you have room for your belongings. The cave floor consists of rock and dirt and may be damp or muddy in areas. Trip #20: Slacklining - Level: 2 - Duration: 1 hour - Limit: 12 people - Drop In

Drop in. Slacklining is a balance activity using nylon webbing tensioned between two anchor points. A slackline remains distinct from a tightrope because the line is not taut but stretches and bounces like a long and narrow trampoline. The birth of slacklining is closely linked to the legendary Camp 4 of Yosemite Valley, which was the center of rock climbing development. In the late 1960s these climbers started to pass their leisure time by balancing on barrier chains and later upgraded to one and two inch nylon webbing. We will be using a 10-foot long slackrack system that puts you a foot off the ground. No equipment is needed although tight fitting shoes are helpful, or you can go barefoot.

Meets in Olive Hill Room of lodge. No transportation required.

Trip #44: Trail Magic The Grandma Gatewood Story - Level: 1 - Duration: 1.5 hours - Limit: 50 people - Drop In

Though many serious hikers know that Emma (Grandma) Gatewood became the first woman to solo thru-hike the Appalachian Trail (AT), they really don not know the rest of the story. Most people do not know that after she hiked the AT the first time, she went back and did it TWO more times. Most people do not know that she also hiked the Oregon Trail during its Bicentennial Celebration. Most people do not know that she was truly a visionary of the ultra-light hiking movement. Most people do not know that she raised 11 children. Most people do not know that she survived an abusive relationship. Most people do not know that by the time she retired, Emma had hiked more than 10,000 miles! Most people do not know Emma Gatewood at all! WAW is pleased to have as a guest at tonight's opening program, Peter Huston, award winning producer, writer, and director. Peter and his company,Film Effects, teamed up with Eden Valley Enterprises to tell Grandma Gatewood's story. Peter will be at tonight's program to introduce our viewing of TRAIL MAGIC. This will be a very special evening program you will not want to miss!

Trip #147: Kenny McCoy Corrugated Cave - Level: 1 - Duration: 1 hour - Limit: 10 people - Drop In

Drop in. Kentucky's longest cardboard cave! This is an EXTREME cardboard maze that is adventurous for both adults and kids. You will encounter extensive crawling passages and some constrictive spaces during this trip. The passages simulate conditions often encountered by cavers in the area's wild caves. Bring a light (NOT carbide!) but leave your shoes and helmet behind. Dress lightly since crawling through the Kenny McCoy Corrugated Cave can be strenuous and stuffy. Kneepads are a good option if you have them. We allow 10 people maximum in the cave at one time; therefore a short wait may occur. Children 10 years old and under need parental supervision in order to participate.
